The linebreeding charts available on each hypothetical
mating report give you the ability to quickly analyze a mating out to 9
generations.
An example of the linebreeding report for the hypothetical
foal of Cryptoclearance & Spain is shown below. From the linebreeding
chart, we can see that Mr. Prospector shows up in the pedigree 3S x 4D.
That means that he appears in the third generation on the sire's side of
the pedigree and in the 4th generation on the dam's side of the pedigree.
The upper case 'S' also lets you know that the inbreeding is occuring
through a son of Mr. Prospector. Crosses through daughters would show up
with a lower case 's' or 'd'.
The number of crosses or times that the ancestor appears in the pedigree
shows up next. In Mr. Prospector's case, there's are only two occurances
or crosses in the 9 generation pedigree.
The number of lines tells you how many different sons/daughters of Mr.
Prospector are represented. In this case, there are two lines, one through
Fappiano, and the other through Gulch. The lines are then broken down into
male & female lines.
The blood % field let's you know how much of the blood the ancestor
contributes. As an example, the parents of any horse contribute 50% of the
blood. A grandparent contributes 25% of the blood. Mr. Prospector is
contributing 18.75% of the blood in the mating between
Cryptoclearance/Spain.
The influence field lets you know what the inbreeding is equivalent to in
simple terms. So, when you see a link like Nearco: 7S x 8D x 7D x 8d x 8D
x 6d x 9D x 8D x 9D", the influence field will boil that down and tell you
that the inbreeding is equivalent to a 5x6 inbreeding to Nearco.
